About Corina Hazlett
Background to Corina Hazlett..
Corina Hazlett is a mother, a practising artist, a teacher. Between 2010-2018 she was contracted to Department of Corrections NZ working with prison inmates at Canterbury prisons using art as a tool to rehabilitate. Her work was recognised by a parliamentary order paper in 2012 for her role in curating 2 prisoner art auctions to raise money for earthquake affected communities after the Christchurch NZ earthquake in 2011. Corina has also worked with Hagar NZ and Hagar Vietnam using art to help women and children rescued from Human Trafficking and extreme human rights abuse.
In 2021 Corina published a book with all of the illustrations, including the front cover, done by children documenting the beginning of the covid pandemic and children’s reactions to lockdowns in Aotearoa. A percentage from each book has raised money for the I am Hope charity for youth mental health . The first print of the book was such a success and sold out.
Corina's own personal artworks hangs in both public and private collections in New Zealand and overseas. She still paints and is available for commissions.

Corina Hazlett artist studio is in a wonderful restored woolshed which has been converted into a great space where art workshops for Children and Adults are held.
Corina also works closely with CCS disability to provide one-on-one art workshops for children with disabilities. Art is a wonderful tool for self expression.
There are also one off events such the popular weekend upholstery workshops at Jim and Corina's 120 year old homestead which is set in a magestic rural setting..
