Term 3 Newsletter & Dates for Term 4

Term 3 2026 there were 7 regular Art  Classes with a total of 52 students a week coming to the studio.

It was a busy term with the After School Art Classes ages 7-12yrs as we plunged into a paper machet sculpture module . As I’m writing this we have just completed building the armature and layers of paper machet for our sculptural designer garments and next week begins the fun part of painting . 

In the morning one-on-one Therapy sessions on a Tuesday morning I worked with Rebekah who has non verbal autism spectrum disorder .  We did lots of art including drawing, pen and ink washes, and painting.  On one of the mornings it snowed outside the studio , it was so pretty so we drew pictures of Frosty the Snowman and put winter Xmas carols on the music. A special thank you to CCS Disability Action for their support in sponsoring these classes.

July 17-19 was the 2026 Kaiapoi Art Expo and i was so thrilled to see a few of my students have panels and red dots next to a few of their artworks. It’s always such a mixture of nerves and excitement exhibiting so I’m so proud of them all and there is a buzz amongst some of the others thinking they will have a go next year. 

Coming up …. In term 4

Term 4 will be the 6th year of my student mentorship program . Congratulations to Phoebe Herschell who is the recipient of the award this year . She will be working one-on-one with me for a term on Mondays , she will also receive a preframed canvas to work on and a gift voucher to The Drawing Room . I can’t wait to see what Phoebe will come up with , keep an eye on my socials. 

Because the mentorship runs in Term 4 there will be no Monday After School classes for this term but I have split the Tuesdays into two 4 week blocks . Hopefully  I can swap a few of you who were on a Monday into the second block of Tuesday lessons for term 4  .  Please see dates below .
