Term 4 Newsletter

Term 4 2025 has been a busy term .  There were 6 regular Art  Classes with a total of 53 students a week coming to the studio.

There was also a special 5 week xmas class which ran November-December where we did lots of Christmasy activities .  This year all of the classes contributed by drawing their own Father Xmases and I made a Father Xmas T-Towel which is available for a limited time  from my online store.  Super little gifts or use them as wrapping paper . A gift wrapped within a gift.

Monday after school was the Youth Mentorship Program where I worked with the 2025 recipient Arielle Chong.  Arielle is 11 years old and she wanted to learn to paint a self portrait .  You can see her wonderful creation on my instagram and fb page.

Thursday Mornings I took on a contract with Comcol in Rangiora.  I am working with some of the students in an awesome collaborative group project which is a large Wildflower Artwork .  I will be writing a blog for this exciting project called Art Connect which you can read about soon .

In the morning one-on-one Therapy sessions on a Tuesday morning I worked with Rebekah who is ultra talented.  Rebekah has non verbal autism spectrum disorder .  We did lots of art including drawing, pen and ink washes, painting and model making.  A special thank you to CCS Disability Action for their support in sponsoring these classes.

In the after school art classes ages 7-12 years we explored the colour Blue and its history.  We also created some very cool reindeer for our sculpture out of egg cartons.

On Thursday 30th October I tutored a Wildflowers workshop at Waihui Garden in Rotherham as part of the Hurunui Garden Festival . It is always such a lovely day in such a magical garden setting of Tom and Meg Macfarlanes. As always it was lovely to meet a great group of women keen to explore their creative side.

The studio was open over the weekend 8/9th November for the public to drop in and meet me and chat about all things arty as part of the Arts Canterbury Open Art Studio trail.  This was so much fun and thank you to all who came along to visit.
