Term 1 Newsletter & dates for Term 2

Term 1 2026 has been a busy term .  There were 7 regular Art  Classes with a total of 52 students a week coming to the studio.

Thursday Mornings I took on a contract with Comcol North Canterbury in Rangiora.  I worked with some of the students in a collaborative group art project which is a large Wildflower Artwork .  This artwork has nearly been completed as I write this and about to be transported to its final destination to be hung at Comcol . At 2.4 m in length it’s a big artwork to move around so thank you to my husband Jim who has been helping me.

In the morning one-on-one Therapy sessions on a Tuesday morning I worked with Rebekah who has non verbal autism spectrum disorder .  We did lots of art including drawing, pen and ink washes, painting and puppet making.  A special thank you to CCS Disability Action for their support in sponsoring these classes.

In the after school art classes ages 7-12 years we created puppets and finshed the module with a puppet show . You can see these on my social media . We also painted landscapes inspired by NZ artist Grahame Sydney. From the bright personality of the puppets to the beautiful quiet of the otago landscape , this was a lesson in how an artwork can make you feel something.

On Saturday 28th March I will be tutoring one of my most popular classes , a Wildflowers workshop at the art studio  . It is always such a lovely fun day meeting a great group of women keen to explore their creative side.
